Not only are we at Qmee committed to getting you money for nothing, but we also love sharing simple little life hacks that can make things a lot easier for you! Here are our latest ideas to help you save money around your home:
- Always comparison check online – even if it’s only for food shopping. If you can get 10 chocolate bars instead of one, well, that’s just a bonus!
- Check your car regularly and after long journeys – particularly the oil levels, this will stop little problems building up, which means less pennies for the mechanic and more for you.
- Substitute ingredients in recipes – if you only need a small amount or you don’t use it that often. If you want extra thrifty points then grow the herbs that you use the most yourself.
- Shop at the end of the season – some vital items for next year, such as bikinis and coats, won’t go out of style if you choose wisely. But, let’s face it, if you like it – who cares?
- Switch your light bulbs to CFL bulbs – they use 20% to 25% of the electricity normal light bulbs do – yay environment!
- Freeze leftovers – this ensures they won’t go off and you’ll be grateful for them when you’re starving and impatient, or running late, at some point in the future.
- Get rid of your landline – it’s easier to keep on top of how much calls are costing you on a mobile so you’ll have no nasty surprises at the end of the month.
- Plug all your electrical equipment into extension leads – then you only need to remember to turn one switch off instead of everything individually, because we’ve all had a panic about leaving the hair straighteners on as soon as we leave the house…
- Install adjustable thermostats – and always remember to adjust them if you’re leaving the house or you’ll be kicking yourself later.
- Wait until you have enough washing for a full load – washing machines use the same amount of energy for both small and large loads. Put them on a quicker cycle at a colder temperature, it will keep your clothes in a better condition in the long run anyway 🙂
